To change a Florida LLC’s principal office or mailing address, use the official Sunbiz address-update route or update the information through an eligible annual report. Changing the registered agent or registered office is a separate action: the ordinary address-request form specifically directs those changes elsewhere. Open Florida’s principal-office and mailing-address form.
Identify the address before choosing a form
| Record field | What to check |
|---|---|
| Principal office | Use a street address; the address form does not accept a P.O. box here. |
| Mailing address | A P.O. box is acceptable. |
| Registered office | Use the registered-agent/registered-office process; a Florida street address is required. |
| Manager’s address | Use the update option for an already-listed manager, rather than assuming an LLC address change also changes it. |
These distinctions appear in the address form, registered-office change form, and Sunbiz update directory.
Prepare the change in three steps
- Save the current record. Find your LLC’s official Sunbiz detail page. Record the exact legal name and Florida document number. Compare each address field with your own business records.
- Write a before-and-after checklist. List only the fields that changed. Include the full street or mailing address, suite number, city, state, and ZIP code. If both principal and mailing addresses changed, track both.
- Choose the matching route. For the address-request form, provide the entity name, document number, contact email, address type, and new address. Review the entries before submitting and retain the request details.
The form’s named fields help you avoid submitting an EIN where the Florida document number belongs. Its public-records notice also explains how submitted email addresses may be disclosed. Review the official address-update form.
When an annual report is the appropriate route
Sunbiz lets annual reports update principal and mailing addresses, listed people, and registered-agent information. If this year’s report has already been filed, an LLC may file an amended annual report. The update directory distinguishes entities eligible for a current-year report from entities formed or effective this year. Review annual-report options and the update directory.
| Route | Published state cost |
|---|---|
| Principal-office/mailing-address request form | No filing fee is displayed on this request form. |
| Regular LLC annual report, filed on time | $138.75 |
| Amended LLC annual report | $50 |
| Separate LLC registered-agent/registered-office change statement | $25 |
These are different routes, not charges to add together. The annual-report page lists a $400 late fee after May 1; overdue or dissolved entities may need a different process. Check the record before selecting a filing. See current report fees and status guidance. The separate agent/office statement prints its own $25 fee. See the official change statement.
What if the registered agent is moving too?
Do not stop after changing the principal address. Review the registered-office field and use the appropriate agent/office filing. The separate statement requests current and replacement details and the applicable signatures, including the agent’s acceptance or confirmation. Follow those instructions with the agent. SunbizPro does not provide registered-agent service. Review the registered-agent/office form.
Check the result, then update your other records
Imagine moving a studio while keeping the same mailing box and outside registered agent. Your checklist might flag only the principal office. If the owner also moves, review any separately listed manager address. Check every affected field after processing rather than assuming one update changed the entire record.
Sunbiz says its updates apply only to Division of Corporations records; other agencies need separate updates. See Florida’s update notice. Keep a follow-up list for tax agencies, licenses, banking, insurance, and customer-facing materials. Record when each update is confirmed.
An address update does not replace the annual report. SunbizPro is an independent administrative service operated by Aurelian Advisory Group LLC. This is general filing information, not legal or tax advice; state processing and acceptance remain with the Division.
