Sunbiz Processing Times: Check Florida Filing Queues

Use the state’s current queue information to plan your next step without relying on fixed turnaround promises.

To check Sunbiz processing times, open Florida's Document Processing Dates page, find your filing category, and compare its current receipt-date entry with your own receipt date. The page shows which received documents the Division is processing. It is a queue reference, not a guaranteed approval date for your individual filing.

Check the live page when timing matters. A turnaround estimate copied into an old article cannot account for the current queue, a missing detail, or a rejected submission.

Choose the right queue

The official table separates new Florida business filings submitted online from those sent by mail. It also has distinct entries for LLC amendments, foreign registrations, annual reports and reinstatements, certification requests, and other work. Follow the row that matches both the document and submission method.

For example, an amendment to an existing LLC should not be compared with the new-entity online row. A mailed certificate request is likewise different from an LLC formation. A provider's own preparation schedule is another separate stage: a form still being prepared has not yet reached the state's review queue.

Write down four things before interpreting a delay: the filing type, submission method, payment method, and receipt date. This small record makes a later status inquiry much more useful.

Use the state's definition of receipt date

Florida's processing-date explanation says the receipt date for an online filing is when the credit-card payment processed. For a check payment, it is the date the check was deposited. The page explains how the endorsement and validation on the back of a cleared check identify that date.

Your mailing date, courier-delivery date, or date of sending instructions to a filing service may therefore differ from the date relevant to the posted queue. Keep those dates in separate columns instead of using “submitted” for all of them.

Here is a hypothetical example: your relevant receipt date is the 10th, and the matching queue shows the 8th. The state is reporting work on an earlier receipt date. That does not establish that approval will arrive two days later. If the row advances beyond the 10th and you still have no result, check your notices and organize a follow-up.

Separate payment, review, and acceptance

The Florida LLC filing page says Articles of Organization are processed in receipt order. For online filings, the state sends filing confirmation by email after examination and approval; mailed filings receive confirmation by mail. A successful payment should not be treated as that approval.

Before making commitments that depend on formation, look for the actual filing confirmation and review its company name, assigned document number, and filing information. Keep the state confirmation alongside your payment receipt. These records answer different questions if a bank or other party later asks what happened.

For a new business, our Florida LLC formation checklist can help you organize the work that follows acceptance. Avoid arranging a launch around an unconfirmed date just because a private service advertises fast preparation.

Check for a correction notice before resubmitting

If Florida rejects an online LLC filing, its correction instructions direct you to use the tracking number and PIN supplied in the rejection email. Read the stated deficiency and use the correction workflow. Do not assume a missing search result means that you should submit and pay for a second formation.

Check the correspondence inbox and spam folder, then review any notice with the person who prepared the filing. Keep a short log of submission, payment, correction, and response dates. When a correction involves an unfamiliar legal requirement, obtain appropriate professional advice rather than guessing at an answer.

Prepare a focused status inquiry

The official Sunbiz contact section lists separate contacts for new filings, amendments, reinstatements, and other work. Choose the relevant section and prepare:

  • The legal business name and filing type.
  • The submission method and relevant receipt date.
  • Your receipt or tracking reference and existing document number, if available.
  • The date shown in the matching processing row when you checked.
  • A concise question explaining what confirmation or correction remains missing.

Keep payment-card numbers, passwords, and other unnecessary sensitive information out of a routine inquiry. Ask what the agency needs to locate the filing before sending additional records.

Frequently asked questions

Does the same processing estimate apply to annual reports?

No single estimate should be carried across filing types. Consult the annual-report instructions and the relevant queue for the payment method used. Our annual-report guide covers that filing separately.

Does paying a private rush fee guarantee state approval sooner?

Ask exactly which work the fee accelerates. A provider's preparation commitment does not establish a guaranteed state approval date. Compare the written service scope and service fees versus state fees before purchasing.
